The Sweet Smell of Hope

This  debut book of poetry is a short series of poems split into three sections that are meant to portray a self reflective journey to giving oneself grace. Each section moves through a different phase in the journey, starting from a place of angst in Dark Nights and Long Roads, to a conclusion that settles on a form of forgiveness often forgotten – that which should be set aside for ourselves.

I’m a writer, poet and author. I believe in the power of reveling in the unspoken and the unknown. Unspoken truths. Unspoken thoughts. Unspoken emotions. I have also been thoroughly convinced that joy is an underrated expression and experience that breeds connection in a way that can make everything surrounding the moment in which it is found a bit brighter. And so I strive for that.

Winter and I
have never been what you would call friends,
but I do think I have a thing or two
to learn from the way
the trees shed their blossoms every year.
It’s as if they know that beauty doesn’t come
to those who aren’t prepared to experience it.
